Why do pit bulls attack and kill innocent people?

Bully breeds, all of them, get a bad rap whether they deserve it or not. It should go by dog, not breed.

I'd hope that anyone "seriously" doing research on the American Pit Bull Terrier will look further than the opinions given by some in the dog section of Yahoo Answers.

Everyone has an opinion, and if you can't look past an opinion and make a judgment for yourself, then unfortunately, that is your loss.

And if you truly in your heart believe that the APBT attacks innocent people unprovoked, then you have no business owning the breed. Like you said, poor breeding, bad owners and unsocialized, unstable dogs are the culprits, and this occurs in all breeds, unfortunately the APBT gets the brunt of it, because when they attack, they can do a heck of a lot more damage then most other breeds.

F^cked up genetics. Add that to f^cked up owners and you have yourself a killing machine. Same way it happens to other breeds and/or mixes. And God only knows it happens to the wee little ankle biters also but we let that slide.

Really, it is much easier to remove a 7 pound dog from your body than a 50 pound dog that has genetics that give them the strength to pull 10 times their own weight and those amazing jaws that ARE different and I don't give a good gawd-damn what ANYONE wants to preach, the muscle in their jaw takes up 3/4 of the jaw. And THAT is one very strong muscle.

Anyway, I am saying bye bye to all who cannot see what's coming up beside them because of their blinders and bye bye to the ones who cannot see the REAL light of the DAY because of their rose colored glasses.

Why are you asking and answering your own question unless it is your intent to provoke another pit bull debate. Especially since you offer ABSOLUTELY NO VALID argument other than a vehement denial that these dogs are harmful.

I used to hate pitbulls.

Then my brother got one from the pound. This dog ended up in the pound cause he WOULDN'T fight.

He would refuse to fight.

They are really great dogs, other then their energy, lol.

Every breed of dog can be aggressive. Owners are usually abusive to them. This is causing the dogs to become aggressive to defend themselves. Or they become skiddish and shy. never blame the dog. it's always the owners.
