My son lost a permanent tooth, now what?
My 8 year old has not lost any baby teeth nor are any loose. Today he came home from school to tell me he lost a tooth! He was excited to show me but it's not right. He has 1 permanent tooth in the front lower jar showing through and then next to that one he has an indentation. He told me he lost the tooth that was next to the permanent tooth but he lost it and can't find it....I didn't even know that his permanent teeth were coming in behind his baby teeth. They call it the "shark" tooth look. I will obviously be calling the dentist in the morning but does anyone know why this has happened?

If it was a permanent tooth then there are options for when he is older but nothing really right now at his age. But kids his age are always missing teeth and getting new ones so he won't stick out. IF it was a permanent tooth in the future he can 1. Get a flipper. Which is a retainer with a fake tooth. 2. A bridge to replace it. Or 3. A dental implant which is the best option but not normally done til about 18 since his mouth is still growing til then.

It sounds like it was a baby tooth,..the two bottom front teeth are the first to come out and if they do not get loose the permanent teeth will come in behind it. If it was a permanent tooth there would of been ALOT of blood, pain etc., :)

You may must wait unless he is 18 to get a new enamel in due to the fact thats when our tooth are in place. Excellent success and definatly get an additional dentist.I might no longer fear about a bridge right now. Which you could get him a fake teeth put in for now.
