Was your last day of high school the last day of term, or did you just leave after the last exam?

I did not see the point in going to school after completing my last exam. The last two years are all about preparing for exams, so what do senior students do at school, if they finish the last one, say one or two weeks before the last day of term?

We did not have graduation ceremonies or proms when I was at school. I left in 1976.

---------------

My mother asked if there would be any 'ceremony'. I said if some of the other kids knew I was leaving that day, I might get chucked in the swimming pool. [This did not happen]

In my school our sixth form have a day we call "mock up day" where they decorate the school and all of them and the teachers dress up. That's when they finish for study leave. Then they come into school if they need to talk to teachers about revision or for any exams they have. After their last exam they don't have to come back to school until results day in august. Then they come to prizegiving in the nearby cathedral in september to get their A level certificates. After that they have this thing the school calls Michaelmas supper before they all go to Uni. It means they can catch up with teachers and friends. After that they only come back for Alumni Events.

I walked out the door at the earliest opportunity, closed it behind me, and never looked back.

    Amen :-)
