Is 3d movies, while basic reconstruction, only half of what the eye does?

i,e watching 3d is a bit like walking along only using one eye! So do 3d camera's got a lot more to do?

    When we look at anything we see it in 3D because each eye sees it from its own perspective. The space between them is enough for us to have two different images and that difference is the 3rd dimension. The brain produces this interpretation.

    3D cameras do have a lot more to do because they work by rapidly alternating the images you see on the screen. 3D glasses control which of the images you see.
