    47 days

Move 1 mile forward each day, on the 47th day he travels the first 3 miles and is now 50 miles from where he started.

Sad how many people answered 50, then didn't bother to think about their "logic" or the wording of the question.

It will take him 50 days.

He goes North 3 miles each day, then 2 miles South each night. That means in total he goes 3-2=1 mile North each 24 hours. 50miles / 1 mile per day=50 days

    50 days

50 days because if he travels 3 miles then goes back 2 then 3-2= 1 so he only really travels 1 mile a day :)
