Where has the offense gone for the White Sox lately? And, is the whole White Sox team to blame?
I feel like the whole team is to blame for their offensive struggles, during their 5-game losing streak, because their clutch hitters like Dunn, Piercynski, Youklis and Konerko simply haven't been able to deliver the key hits on offense when it matters. I think they're putting too much pressure on themselves to try to make things happen on the spot at the plate, and simply not being patient, and instead they're striking out and leaving way too many runners on base.
I worry that their offensive ineptitude and their inabiltiy to beat the Tigers and the Royals in the second half of the season and the lack of offensive production and execution during their stretch drive to the postseason could come back to haunt them until next spring training, if they don't start in the clutch on offense. And, should they let the division title slip from their fingers, and White Sox fans will be nose-deep in "What ifs? questions regarding their lack of offensive production and execution and their inabiltiy to beat the Tigers and the Royals during the second half of the season.
They'll be asking themselves questions like:
"What if the White Sox hadn't blown a 3-0 lead vs. the Royals, because of their baserunning?"
"What if their dependable hitters like Konerko, Piercynski, Dunn and Youklis and their young hitters had been able to deliver the key hits in the clutch in September?"
and, WTF was their offense when the White Sox needed it the most? And, why did they rely so heavily on the home run ball, instead of simply trying to execute their offense and score runs with base hits, like they're capable of doing
It's obvious that their crosstown rivals have nothing to do with the White Sox' offensive struggles. But, in all fairness, who's really to blame for their lack of clutch hitting and offensive ineptitude, during their 5-game losing streak? The players or the coaches? Are the White Sox still haunted by their inability to beat the Royals and Tigers during the second half of the season, or protect a 3-0 lead vs. the Royals, because of their baserunning blunders? And, what do the White Sox need to do to get themselves and their offense back in sync, during their homestand?
