Why ladies in India do not address their husband by name. It can not be respect.?
Although, it is said that they do so for respect. But what is that respect that name of the husband goes in hiding. It can be due to polyandry ( more than one husband in ancient times), or the women consider the man so inferior that they even do not want to call by name.
The name denotes the identity of the man. If the wife call the man a jee, ojee, sunojee, other people will call the man as such.

Nope not like you think. According to Hinduism(from which this kind of culture originated in India), addressing a elder person by his/her name is not right and also disrespectful and since usually in India the wife will be younger to her husband, she doesn't call him by name.

In earlier times, husband was considered as God like person who provides shelter, security, finance and a kids and the tradition continues . the tradition still go with the traditional families but Metro married women call their husband by names.

There was belief that if wife call by name to husband,age of husband is lost,hence for longevity of married life this system prevailed.

It's because if wife starts call hubby by his name then their children would imitate elders and call daddy by name and wont pay respect .

they do so for respect and this trend has a positive impact on our society and method of having sex. males being respected and treated like a god wont dare to be exceedingly dirty while having sex and it also prevent them performing unnatural sex (back door robbery). the back door robbery is more practicable in western culture where females address their husband with name...........! that's it
