Well first of all, 2k would get you some ridiculous *** speakers (assuming about 4 speakers and the price of the receiver/amp). I'd recommend looking at Alpine speakers if you are into getting really nice sound. Tell me what kind of car you have and I can give you some more info.

Look into RE Audio, Audioque and Fi Audio. If you want a nice, clean sounding system, you can build something similar to mine (though mine cost me 3500$ after installation fees)
