using the pilot to bleed your house line is insane. It will take forever.
Shut off ALL gas valves.
Install a fitting outside near the tank and pressurize the pipe with 5-10psi.
leak check the pipe.
Reconnect the pipe to the tank.
Turn on the outside tank valve.
Check all fittings for leaks again with a soap sprayer.
There should be a union on your gas line before the appliance, but after the shut off valve.
Loosen that union with two pipe wrenches (Only loosen, do not unthread 100%).
Open the appliance gas valve slowly, and smell the air coming out until you smell propane.
Now shut the gas valve and tighten the union.
Open the gas valve.
Check for leaks between the gas valve and the appliance.
Light your pilot.

You would typically go ahead and hook up the lines as you normally would, then turn it on. Then crack the line slowly until you you start to hear and smell the propane escaping out. Let it bleed for about 5 seconds, then fasten the mechanical fitting back down tight. Any air in the lines will be ahead of the gas, so it doesn't take long to bleed it off.

Open the gas valve on the gas tank. Then at your furnace, depress the gas valve button on the furnace to bleed the air out of the gas line just until you start to smell the propane. Then let off of the gas valve. Now, turn the gas valve to "Pilot" and hold the button down. Now, light the pilot and keep the button down for about 20 seconds. Then, let up from the button and turn it to "On". You should be all good.

Open the line outside first, go to the heater and open that line. After @ 20 seconds close the line and try to light the pilot. Continue to light pilot until gas comes through.
