I think you need to re-flash your phone with a fresh Android firmware. It could be two things here:
1. You have a custom rom due to rooting your phone.
2. You got a virus, which I doubt since by resetting the phone to its factory state get rid of the virus.
On a Samsung Galaxy S2 and S3 you press and hold the volume + &- with the power button at the same time until it gives a little vibration, let go of all the button and let it display like a terminal display, from here you choose Delete All Data and Delete Cache. This will take your phone to its factory state leaving the phone as brand new. But I'm not sure if this would work on your model, it is worth to give it a try.

I was questioning the same thing and i decided that i am getting the Pantech Jest. I am getting it when you consider that of its particularly high-quality reveal, it supports video(in contrast to the intensity), and the digital camera is fine! :)
