URGENT help?! band and music question?!!?

Question

i've never had much of a taste for good music - i like what i like really, from nicki minaj to the beatles.

but, you see, i'm going to band practice with a friend (their doing a sound check) and they wanted me to come along.

The thing is, that they're all into these proper ''indie'' bands (not tumblr indie!! thank god!), like Led Zepplin, who, to be honest, i have never heard one of their songs. 
I'm really out of touch with the more quiet bands like you me at six and paramore (yes, i know them! i'm not that bad aha)

so, could you name a couple of rock/band/indie bands? i'm  not conforming really, i hate it, but i dont wanna look like a **** lol :')

Led Zeppelin isn't an indie band.

edit @rob: "indie" doesn't mean unsigned, rob.  Every indie band has signed a contract, unless they record and release their own albums from their bedroom. If you've spent your "life" as an "indie musician", you would know that already.  And indie bands do get played on the radio.

Not sure what your question is really, but I'll say this. I can't stand when people use the word Indie as a style. It's not! It means independent, or "unsigned". So if that's what you're looking for, you won't find many "Indie" bands on the radio. You'll have to do some YouTube and other online research.

lol man! what about AC/DC or Motorhead - true hipster indie stuff, I assure you.

you should come to it by yourself. no one can advise you good music, until you yourself think it is good. if you just learn band names, you still will be a tasteless teenager anyway.
