How do get rid of fleas in my dorm room?
My friend has gotten fleas from staying at her boyfriend's house and I've been bitten by them some (she's been attacked badly) and I'm sure she has some around her dorm since I've been bit. She's come to my room to hang out a couple times and I'm worried that I might get fleas in my room as well and since I'm in a dorm I would like to handle this as quickly, easily, and discretely as possible.

They have over the counter bombs to take care of fleas and the eggs. Try them.

I'd say put the flea collar on your friend. The only successful way I've ever gotten rid of fleas was to purchase those flea and bug bombs at the grocery store, close up the house, set the can on a newspaper, set it off and vacate the area (close the door) for two or three hours. If you really have fleas you may have to repeat in a week or two in case the eggs hatch.

Frontline Flea Control. Go to any vet and they'll sell it to you. You open it up and put it on the skin over the neck area. It's great. It kills all the fleas and then kills the eggs so if there are any fleas in the home, those eventually go away too. It takes about 2 weeks and all the fleas are gone! Each dose is good for one month. It's like somewhere between 10 or 15 dollars for each month - well worth it. Because you just have to put it on her and never do another thing. You don't have to get the room fumigated. You don't have to wash the clothes or furniture or anything. Frontline takes care of it all.

Make sure they are fleas and not bed bugs, make sure to vacuum every day and clean all you bedding, spray some flea spray on everything before you go to class,

This worked for me:
Virbac Knockout E.S.
http://www.amazon.com/Virbac-Knockout-Area-Treatme...
I got mine from the local vet--she was the one who recommended it. It keeps for 7 months, long enough to get the new hatches from eggs.
I paid less than $15 for the bottle.
I sprayed the carpet, upholstry, & even the wood floor. I know it's not recommended, but I even sprayed my matress.
