Hook for essay? Please!?
I'm doing an issue paper on teacher layoffs and shortages. Basicly i describe it then explain my suggestions to improve the situation. My solutions are to: cut extravagent spending / host more fundraisers / and for the community to share their voice. I have the body done i just need a hook for the intro.
If you could suggest anything else to put in the intro/conclusion dont hesitate please i need all the help i can get.

You could do something along these lines:
One by one the educators of today's and tomorrow's pupils are slowly being laid off and forgotten, can this be stopped? Or is it inevitable?

In ANY essay, the "hook" needs to be related to the essay's subject. (Duh.)
It shouldn't contain facts, as those are better used as evidence in the body of your paper.
Anyway...enough of that. Let's get to the specifics of YOUR essay:
For decades, the subject of teacher shortages has been a subject of considerable controversy.
HOWEVER...I'm more concerned about the structure of this thing.
1. Your overall subject is hazy. (What are you trying to prove? We all KNOW that layoffs and shortages are in the news.)
2. Each of the three solutions you describe involve facts. As I said earlier, facts are better used as evidence than as topic sentences.
By all means contact me if you like. My contact info is in my profile (I hope).
