car leaking gasoline of exhaust pipe?
hi i have a 2000 pontiac grand am 2.4 l
4 cyl engine.
i started the car and it started puffing small clouds of white smoke and dripping gasoline.of the exhaust .what could be causing this.
please don't say it cant be gasoline and its probably condensation
.i am sure it is unburned gasoline.
i checked the spark plugs which were 2 weeks new and the fourth plug was coated with a black substance and it smelled like gasoline.the other 3 plugs were clean.
What are all the possible causes for gasoline to leak out exhaust pipe?

if it is only one plug that has that, then the issue could be from a leaking injector. see if you can not find a shop to check that out.

if the car is not burning it then it has to go somewhere. Try to imagine how much gasoline you will need to fill the exhaust manifold, cataletic converter, muffler, resonator and the 15 feet of pipe all the way to the back. BOOM. It will be condensation with the smell of gasoline cause of what is coming out of that one cylinder and there should be a vibration to the engine from the miss fire.
Make sure you have the propper gap in the sparkplug and that the ignition coil is working properly. also check that the plug wire is pushed all the way onto the plug and coil

i'm no longer mechanic yet I actual have some journey with engines. If uncooked (unburnt) gas is leaking from the exhaust it variety of feels like that gas isn't being burnt and then leaking lower back out of the cylinder in the path of the exhaust valve. What could have occurred is while they replaced the pinnacle gasket they did some thing to the spark plug or spark plug wires. and a U1016(loss of communication with engine administration module) Engine administration module seems want to me that the engine is getting too wealthy of an air-gasoline blend, rather on the gasoline area of issues. If the cylinder is getting too plenty gas, the spark plug is going to be flooded and the gas won't burn precise if in any respect. that could clarify what's taking place. fairly of chatting with the mechanics, take them out on your automobile and coach them what's taking place. lead them to verify what's popping out of the tail pipe is gas, that way, they could start to difficulty shoot.
