Odds are, he's interested in her... and wants to have a good idea where to invite her out to. If it was were just about his mates, he'd probably ask them.

Yes he's asking her what her favourite haunts aka places, she likes hanging out at in her hometown. He most likely wants to go on a date with her at those places maybe.

It could mean a number of things.
He might have just been making formal conversation which is more likely.

I'm pretty sure it just means he's curious he could like her but that alone isn't enough to tell if he likes her or not...
