I am in school for Veterinary Science and I start the program in the spring and I am on the verge of calling every single vet clinic in my town. How do I call and ask though. I was thinking about saying, "Good morning my name is stace and I am currently enrolled in a veterinary science program in mercy college. I was wondering if this clinic was hiring for assistance? UGH!!! Idk can someone help. Thank you

Just pick up the phone, dial the number/numbers, and ask what you asked here. Ask to talk to the office manager.

    Stace,

That is EXACTLY what you say to whomever answers. They can either provide you information or advise you that your should speak with Office Manager or the DVM (owner of the practice/clinic) and take a message or connect you with the right person.

    A couple of tips:

If you have pets, start with the Veterinary clinic where they are clients.

Before calling, do some web work. If the clinic has a specialty - and that is YOUR planned specialty - be sure you are ready to say that and talk about why.

At the clinic's website, many indicate whether they even have openings.

Even if they do not have any openings, be prepared to start as an unpaid intern. If it works out, great. Hopefully you get hired. If it does not, you received an education from them. You also get to add the experience to your resume.

Shelters, formal rescue groups and local SPCA or Animal Services (city/county) are other places that can provide excellent experience... some pay, some don't...

"Hello (Sir or Mama), My name is (your full name), and currently I am attending (name of school) to become a Veterinarian. I was wondering if you might be hiring or in need of any assistance as I would love to be able to get some hands on experience working in this field.

if they say no sorry then: " That is OK, Thank you for your time and have a great day" <~ make sure to sound sincere because when you get out of school you might need a job with this company in the future

If they say yes: "Thank You that is great, when would you like for me to start or come in for an interview?"

just try to sound as professional as possible that is what most employers are going for these days

I think that is a great idea, And what you are thinking about saying is just fine. Stace. Alot of vets love to hire students going into vet school. Be upbeat and friendly. Who knows? I could just land you the job. GOOD LUCK!

Call and talk to your college councilor to see if any of the vets have programs to help you in your area.

And you'll need to get a backbone if you want to survive the field of medicine.

What you are planning to say sounds just perfect however, I have been working a long time and I know that businesses love it when a person shows enough enthusiasm by walking into the business in person. It shows that you seriously want the job.

I would go in person and introduce myself... Try to find out thier off hours. Where I lived before it was afternoon, like one to 4. They can see you and get a impression... Good luck..
