How does a solution differ from other mixtures and how does an element differ from a compound ?

Solutions are called homogenous systems as the molecules within them are all evenly distributed.
Mixtures may have different concentrations of molecules and may not be evenly spread out.
An element is made up of only one type of atom, e.g. oxygen and hydrogen are elements. A compound is made up of two or more elements, e.g. H2O.
