what happens at a conciliation meeting for workers compensation?

I was hurt on the job and have been out of work with dequevians disease. I have had surgery, cortisone and now am doing therapy. I will be in therapy for a few months. My attorney told me she is having a conciliation meeting. What is this and what happens at the meeting. Will they be discussing a settlement on my case?

If an insurance company disputes the benefits there will be an informal meeting between your attorney, insurance company attorney and disability mediator/representative. This informal meeting is called a Conciliation which is an attempt to reach a mutually agreeable settlement. If a settlement agreement is not reached then the case will proceed to a conference before an Administrative Judge. The judge based on his findings will determine if the insurance must pay out benefits or they are not legally required to make any payouts/benefits. If you lose at the conference then your lawyer can enter an appeal to have a hearing. The hearing is a more formal proceeding with witnesses. Good Luck!!!
