Are herpes 1 and 2 different or what?
I hear different answers to this. I have heard that it's just a way to differentiate between herpes 1 being oral herpes, and herpes 2 being genital herpes. I've also heard people saying one is worse because of the latency period, that is, it will cause more outbreaks than the other. Which one is which? I had oral herpes on my lips a couple weeks ago, and now I have herpes on my penis and testicles. The doctor says he thinks I accidentally spread it to my genitals.
I see pictures online of herpes and it looks HORRENDOUS. The bumps on my lips didn't hurt and went away within about 5 days. The ones on my private area are not painful, they just itch. There is no scab or puss or anything. It's not even really noticeable. Just raised bumps behind the head, like cauliflower.
I'm sorry this is so long, but I'm freaking out and I am really depressed about this. The doctor was of no help when I went to see him today. He was busy and told me to make it quick and rushed me out while I was asking questions. Please give me a real, serious answer. Someone...

Herpes Simplex Virus 1 also known as a cold sore or fever blister affects the mouth mostly.
Herpes Simplex Virus 2 genital warts.
HSV1 can affect the genitals as well as the mouth area. If you had an out break of HSV1 and kissed someone who then gave you oral sex then it can spread to your privates.
You need to visit a clinic that specialises in treating STDs and get properly checked out.
