does workmans comp pay you after carpal tunnel surgery?

Will workman s comp pay me for having surgery. Does having surgery on my left wrist for dequevains disease be considered hand surgery. And surgery on my right thumb. They don't want to settle but what about my scaring. My trigger thumb surgery was done on the line in my hand and the scar is on my left wrist above the left thumb.

Update:

I had to have the surgery. First they tried therapy, then a cortisone shot and nothing was working. I am still in therapy now. I heard that I would be compensated for scaring and loss of function but was not sure as this is my first time having to even deal with Worker's Compensation!

You get lost wages, and medical payments - but there is no pain and suffering for workers compensation.

Settling, is INSTEAD of medical payments and lost wages. And it's discounted. So if the surgery and lost wages were estimated at $40,000, they'd "settle" for $25,000, and you can choose to not have the surgery and keep the money, or pay the rest yourself - but you wouldn't be entitled to any more lost wages, either.

You don't get compensated for scarring, for a little carpel tunnel scar on your wrist. You CAN be compensated for "loss of function" in your hands, AFTER your surgery, IF you are permanently disabled enough after the surgery. This rarely happens, with carpel tunnel surgery.

    Sorry, no cash cow here.

Why would you expect money for scarring?? You decided to have the surgery and you can't have surgery without a scar.Your question does not make a lot of sense, if you have filed a claim for carpal tunnel and it is accepted, you are covered, however I would investigate the daylights out of it because you use your hands all day long, at work and home do it is difficult to pinpoint it to work. By the way it is worker's compensation not workmen's compensation.

Workers compensation benefits are determined by state law. The laws specify the scheduled benefits for medical expenses, loss of wages and permanent disability arising from a work related injury. The scheduled benefits do not include compensation for pain and suffering nor for scarring.
