There are many ways to destroy a rainforest. One is caused by "slash and burn" method used by natives, they slash everything and then burn it. That ashes will be provide nutrients for their crops in a short while. After 3-5 years, they will simply moved and find another spot to repeat the cycle again. Another way is by clearing it using heavy machineries for road construction, which is dominant in the amazon basin. Deforestation is also a problem, most rainforest have valuable hardwoods that fetched a high price in blackmarket.
