Borderlands 2 Car sets back ammo count?

In the new borderlands 2 game (which I love very much), there is a problem with the relationship between the cars and ammo. When I get in car and get back out, my ammo count seems to have gone down about an 1/8 or so. This bug also happened with my borderlands 1 game, which was fully patched when I played it. Any constructive help is appreciated.

This is actually a bug I wondered about for the longest time, and finally figured it out after replaying Borderlands 1.

It is caused by having a skill that gives you increased clip size, increased shields, or increased health. Upon exiting a vehicle, you will notice those bonuses are gone. In the case of shields, they come back. Health will regenerate if you have that ability. Ammo is not lost, however. It is only taken out of your clip and added to your total. For example, if you have 500 ammo + 20 in an extended clip that is supposed to be only 15, then after exiting the vehicle, you should have 505 ammo and 15 in the clip.

I have not noticed anything about my total ammo going down, however. Only the ammo in a clip if I have an ability that gives me extra (like the Commando skill tree has).

It is caused by the game recognizing the shields and abilities of the vehicle, which overrides the abilities of the character.
