Things that cause a 1994 Ford Explorer to fast idle?
The thing pinged for years no one could figure out why so it was surmised it was because of pre-ignition caused by carbon build up. It kept getting worse then while working on it I saw a huge hole in the air intake duct and replaced it and WOW! No more pinging! I can now burn regular like everyone else!
BUT THEN it started idling fast. About 1000 rpm in gear but if I put it in park it will idle down to 6 or 7 whatever was right before. It did this once before when I towed a heavy trailer but I cleared the Keep Alive Memory (KAM) and it started working correctly a while later. So naturally I figured the abrupt change in the air intake might have been the culprit this time, but this time it’s still idling fast after clearing the KMA. Now I’m thinking the trailer cure may have been only a coincidence and there is another problem.
Any ideas? Thank you for any direction.
avalanche! Thank you! I think I should look at them in the same order you listed them, "air idle control valve ..a vacuum leak" because only when it's in gear its bad but in neutral its OK. I would tend to think a vac leak would effect the idle all the time. Thank you for the direction again . . .:-)

I agree on the IAC, also check the TPS and vacuum lines. IAC is far more likely, since its only doing it in gear, then again your ecm may have crapped and started sending a wrong voltage to the iac. Whether it's running lean/rich etc would be helpful. I always test the ETC anyway, just cause it cost me 200 dollars in sensors last time i didn't (i decided to play musical sensors, never ends well) either way. avalanche is most likely right, but there are some other places to check if he isn't

i'm a guy and that i consider you thoroughly. I fee love plenty extra suitable than I do lust. Do issues mutually as acquaintances, then artwork on a romantic relationship. Do you savour a similar meals, hobbies, stay shows, track and theater? It takes time and attempt to verify in case you in wonderful condition or no longer. individually, i like the wonderment and anticipation of a achieveable romantic relationship.
