Install vtech engine in regular Civic DX 1.5 liter engine?

I have a 1994 Honda Dx with a manual transmission that has over 200,ooo miles. I may be needed a different engine sometime in a year or so and I have seen 1.5 liter vtech engines from Japan cheap. Could I install a 1.5 vtech the same as a regular 1.5 engine or do I need any other electonic componets to have the vtech work correctly ? Could a vtech 1.5 liter engine get better gas mileage than my regular 1.5 liter ? My car gets really good gas mileage now but just thinking the vtech may do real good as long as a driver doesn't rev the engine out. I am just thinking about the fact that my engine is getting old and may not pass smog this year where I live in California.

Stop saying "vtech" there is no "h". You can swap in a vtec engine easily, you will need to add wiring to connect the ecu to the vtec solenoid as well as getting the vtec ecu.

I used ot have a Honda Civic 2006 vtech when it came to get a new engine I had to get a vtech as I really wanted a basic because my car had all the vtech components I had to get a basic. So if you want to buy a vtech engine you will also have to pay so much more to get all the vtech components and electrical codes. If I was you I would just stick to the normal engine if you have the money to spend a fortune then it's OK to get a vtech. Also the vtech has a compressor which cost a hell lot of money to get!!! I paid for the compressor to replace about £950
