PS2 (Original) Network Adapter?

OK, i've found - and reserved for 24 hr's - a Playstation 2 (30000 model) Network Adapter for just under £15.00.

I've been looking for one for a long time, however the "Network Access Disc" isn't included, should i get the Adapter regardless?

To clarify what i'm referring to:

I think you should get it.

The fashioned PS2 did not include the network adapter. You'll be able to need to buy a community adapter (with the set-up disc) if you want to get it on-line. You do need the set-up disc that comes with the community adapter to enter & store the configuration settings.

To be clear I never bought one. However, I didn't think the network adapter had many uses to begin with. I was working in the video game department of Toys R Us at the time and they never sold them at all. If memory serves me correctly the disk was required. Also, I believe the network was taken down sometime ago.
