As asked in a prior question of mine (asking again due to lack of a satisfactory answer), i'm currently looking to buy a Sound Card to replace the On-Board Sound in the coming week, my budget is £25 at maximum, although the lower the cost the better, providing it's good value for money of course.

So, which would YOU (best Kirchner face XD) recommend to buy?

Basic PC Stat's:

Motherboard: ASUS P4P800 - VM/S

Operating System: Windows XP Professional

Processor: Pentium IV

Processor Output: 2.4 GHZ

RAM: 1GB (1024MB)

Note: My Desktop Case is only 16.5'' (long) by 13.1/8'' (wide) by 4'' (high), so the Soundcard must be a "Low Profile" type in order to fit.

I have been using W.M.M. for several years now, but it is unreliable (keeps freezing & generally breaking down), doesn't work with a lot of file types, and is generally too primitive for what i need, basically i'm sick to my back teeth with it. Recommendations for a replacement?

Note: Recommendations MUST be Freeware / Open Source, and preferably based upon experience of the software, multiple recommendations and detailed reviews are especially welcome.

Right, my Home Desktop was put out of action several months ago by a "Registry File Failure" (caused by shutting it down incorrectly), i got Windows XP working again by using a Boot Disc, this saving the data stored on the HDD (a fresh install was/is impossible due to lack of the instillation discs), however the computer now won't recognize my Speakers, or even Headphones in any of the Audio Ports?!?!?

From what my examination of my PC i'm fairly sure it's the Driver Software that's become corrupted / gone missing or is otherwise scrambled, as i have the same problem with the built in Broadband Port (cheated my way out of that problem by fitting a Broadband Card i had to hand). I intend to buy a proper Sound Card in a weeks time, but until then what is there i can do to fix my Onboard Sound?

OK, i've found - and reserved for 24 hr's - a Playstation 2 (30000 model) Network Adapter for just under £15.00.

I've been looking for one for a long time, however the "Network Access Disc" isn't included, should i get the Adapter regardless?

Nearly a decade after they were originally announced, the QE Class Aircraft Carriers are under construction and seemingly progressing well, however not without numerous problems / changes and reversions in design configuration / type of Aircraft planned for them and ever changing Political whims.

Oppinions / thoughts upon the matter?

& "Star Wars Rouge Squadron 3D", to the "Call of Duty" &
