Do you think college degrees are overrated?

The reason why I am asking this question is because I have an associate's degree in human services and I'm not interested in the field of human services hence the reason why I haven't pursued school any further than my associate's degree as I'm afraid that I will end up choosing a bachelor's degree in another field that I have no interest or can't even find a job in. I also sometimes feel like college isn't worth it due to its high price tag which can lead to an erroneous amount of student loan debt. Is college always worth it no matter what? What do you think? Thanks for your opinions!

To an extent I particularly do. I too suppose it's foremost for some profession paths, however in art for example, I consider it is pretty worthless, Im on a measure stage path on the moment, it can be handiest two years of a measure, so not a full degree, and it can be at my nearby institution, as I did not wish to move faraway from residence. But humans can get high marks whatever the reality they are work is pretty horrible, i know a couple of men and women on the path who's work appears GCSE degree, and they are able to nonetheless get the marks because they tick the boxes. I think relating to topics like artwork, your profession should rely for your talent, and your dedication, now not in case you went to university or now not. Im feeling no stress to go to institution for my third 12 months, I suppose if my work is strong enough, and that i get myself out there and keep working at my competencies, i'll get the oppertunity's regardless. And if men and women decide on not to rent me seeing that I dont have a measure, then I dont want to work for them, that may be a nasty attitude to have, but thats my feelings.

They aren't overrated, unless you get one in something very general. What you need to do is pick something very specific, especially in the health care field, like nursing, dental hygiene, medical assistant, or maybe something like accounting. I'd stick with an associates until you decide which kind of job you really want, then you can go for a bachelors. Then once you get your degree, use it to go get a job in the field. See how you feel about it.

Otherwise degrees like business, management, human studies, history, philosophy, economics, and all those... Are pretty much useless. Trust me.

All I'm going to say is this.

College is not for everybody. Some people find success through college, others get a job right out of high school, some join the military, etc.

    depends on the degree.

clearly a degree in photography/philosophy will be worthless.

but a degree in business or engineering..oh my god those are the best bachelores degrees in demand.

    now.

also even with a degree you need an internship and you need good grades if you plan on partying and getting straight D.s you will be picked last to be hired each and every time that and if you plan on law school or med school your basically ******.

    there you have it

Source(s): business managment major with a focus of entrepreneurship at a private college in the top 500 of America. i also plan to go to law school but only in the top 20. have a good one and be safe =)
