13 AnswersPolls & Surveys3 years agoWhat is self worth and where does it come from?
Is self worth something that is deeply hidden waiting to be discovered by one's own self or it is solely tied to one's socioeconomic status and whether or not someone else tells them they did a "good job" at something? Your answers are greatly appreciated!!

3 AnswersPolls & Surveys3 years agoGum Abscess or Canker sore?
On thursday of last week I went to the dentist for my yearly check-up and during this visit my teeth were examined and cleaned. Once the cleaning was done my dentist told me that my x-rays showed no cavities and that my teeth and gums were in pretty good shape! I also didn't have any signs of tartar build-up or problems with bleeding gum prior to my teeth being cleaned. A few hours after leaving the dentist my mouth felt sore and my gums felt slightly tender and swollen. A few days later my gums still felt tender and swollen but I was also starting experience a slight stinging and burning sensation. When I looked in my mouth I saw that I had a red bump directly on my gum near my tooth in the back. The bump itself is somewhat raised with tiny pimple like spots that have pale yellow-white centers. This bump has been very painful especially when I eat and brush my teeth! My guess is that I have a really big canker sore however, I'm not exactly sure because I've never had a canker sore on my gum before and I've also never had a gum abscess. Is it possible to have a gum abscess even if I don't have any dental cavities and have never had any problems with my gums? I plan to call the dentist in the next few days if I'm not feeling any better. Your help is greatly appreciated thanks a bunch!
1 AnswerDental8 years agoIs it normal to have swollen and tender gums after a dental cleaning?
On Thursday of this week I went to the dentist for my yearly check-up and during this visit my teeth were examined and cleaned. I didn't have any tartar on my teeth prior to them being cleaned and my x-rays showed no signs of cavities. Once the cleaning was done my dentist said that I had some very very light bleeding but overall, my teeth and gums were in pretty good shape! A few hours after leaving the dentist my mouth felt a little sore and my gums felt slightly tender and swollen which I had attributed to the cleaning however, it is three days later now and my gums are still tender and swollen should I be alarmed or is this completely normal as I have never experienced this after having my teeth cleaned? Your help is greatly appreciated thanks a bunch!
1 AnswerDental8 years agoIs it okay to blow dry kanekalon synthetic hair?
The reason why I am asking this question is because I got my hair braided into cornrows for the first time with kanekalon hair a few days ago and my hair got a little damp today while in the shower and I just wanted to know if I could blow dry it dry or if towel drying it would be best to ensure that it stays neat? thanks for all your help!
1 AnswerHair8 years agoWhat to expect when getting my hair braided with weave added in for the first time?
The reason why I am asking this question is because in about a week I will be getting my hair braided into cornrows with weave added in for the first time and I'm feeling a little nervous as I dont know what to expect. The brand of hair that my friend will be using is called kanekalon I've never heard of this brand before and so I've watched a few youtube videos on it and I thought the hair itself looked really nice and most people in the videos seem to like it which brings me to my first question Is kanekalon hair one of the best brands of hair to use for hair braiding and how much does it typically cost? I dont want super long braids ideally, I would like for them to be slightly past shoulder length. Will 1-2 packs of hair be enough? How long do the braids typically last? My friend told me about two weeks but I was hoping they would last me about 3-4 weeks. Will leaving the weave in for 3-4 weeks cause damage to my natural hair or cause it to fall out? tIs getting one's hair braided with weave added in much more low maintenance than using just one's own hair? The reason why I am asking this question is because I am african american and my hair is both natural and super thick and so I'm hoping that the braids will put an end to all the fuss that I have with styling my hair in the morning. How much hair growth can one expect to have with braids and weave added in? Your help is greatly appreciated!
3 AnswersHair8 years agoIs it normal to experience body aches, loss of appetite, and nausea after getting a tb skin test done?
I am asking this question because today I got a tb skin test done for a job that I will be starting soon and a short time after getting the test done I started to experience body aches, loss of appetite, and nausea. I've had tb skin tests done before in the past and never experienced any of my current symptoms and so I don't know if this is my body's way of reacting to the serum used in the injection or if I am just coming down with the flu.I've also always tested negative for tb as well and feel confident that this most recent test is negative also! I have to go and have the results of my skin test read on Wednesday of this week and I was just wondering if I should be alarmed and if I should say something about me feelng sick when I go back to have my test results read? thanks for all your help!

12 AnswersPhilosophy9 years agoDo you think college degrees are overrated?
The reason why I am asking this question is because I have an associate's degree in human services and I'm not interested in the field of human services hence the reason why I haven't pursued school any further than my associate's degree as I'm afraid that I will end up choosing a bachelor's degree in another field that I have no interest or can't even find a job in. I also sometimes feel like college isn't worth it due to its high price tag which can lead to an erroneous amount of student loan debt. Is college always worth it no matter what? What do you think? Thanks for your opinions!
7 AnswersPolls & Surveys9 years agoHow often should one wax their eye brows?
The reason why I am asking this question is because I just started getting my eyebrows professionally waxed about 8 months ago and I would go to have them waxed about every4 weeks but now I'm starting to notice that my brows are looking a bit thin for my liking and I wanted to know if I need to wait longer than 4 weeks before waxing again or if I should stop waxing all together and start getting them threaded? I've never had my brows threaded before so I don't if threading is painful or how long the results last. I also don't if threading cost the same as waxing or more. Thanks for all your help!
2 AnswersOther - Skin & Body9 years agoCan dyeing natural african american hair for the first time cause hair dryness and breakage?
The reason why I am asking this question is because I always wanted to get my hair professionally dyed just to try something new but never did so as I'm afraid that dyeing my hair may cause it to fall out or become too dry! My hair is naturally thick and dryness/brittleness is a constant issue for me therefore, I don't want the dye to make the dryness worse. Secondly, I would like to know which colors would be best for my hair since it is naturally a dark brown color? In choosing a color I was thinking that I would stay within the brown/ copper gold tone family of colors however, I do like certain shades of red but I don't if know going from dark brown to red is something that can be achieved without having to bleach my hair. Lastly, I would like to know how much does it cost to have natural african american hair professionally dyed? Thanks for all your help!
2 AnswersHair9 years agoHow do I overcome my fear of student loan debt?
The reason why I am asking this question is because I sometimes think about returning back to school to pursue a Bachelor's degree but I don't want to get in over my head with student loans or feel as though I am going to be in debt for the rest of my life! I also know that in most cases student loans are not dischargeable in bankruptcy so I don't know if going back to college is even worth the investment. I have my associate's degree in Human Services but I'm not interested in the field of human services so I thought I would go back to school for a bachelor's degree but I'm not sure what field I would like to study and so I don't know if going back to school when you are unsure of what you would like to do is the best thing or the right thing to do. What do you think? thanks for your help!

4 AnswersMaintenance & Repairs9 years agoWhat is the best way to moisturize natural African American hair that is both dry and brittle?
The reason why I am asking this question is because I have natural African American hair that is extremely thick, dry, and brittle. I use a leave in condition by VO5 everyday in my hair along with some hair oil moisturizers to seal in the moisture but this doesn't seem to help because my hair is still dry! I also notice that after about 3 days of using the leave conditioner my hair starts to feel sticky and tacky and I'm not sure why. Am I doing something wrong or am I not using the right products? Can you tell me some good products to use? Thanks for your help!
