Oh yes. There are plenty of money hoarders around, but the saddest part is that around 1% of the population owns around half the world's wealth.

Depends on what you mean by "addiction." If you mean "can a person develop a medically detectable, physical dependence on it," then probably the answer is "no." If you are talking about psychological obsession, then maybe yes.
