I find for-profit healthcare repugnant. Would something really bad happen if the US changed?

Would the economy collapse? Would there be some kind of unacceptable back-lash? I hope for a well-thought out answer please.

Every universal healthcare nation on the planet was once for-profit just like the USA.

They all changed their systems and the world didn't come crashing to a halt.

The common excuse that Americans are somehow too different to do likewise is nonsense.

Where universal health care is available like in most European countries, Canada, I believe in New Zealand, Australia people are more healthy than here and outcomes from health care are much better.

Only greedy insurance companies and pharmaceutical companies would suffer. We would not miss them.

Healthcare is a business. Businesses need money to pay employees, buy supplies, and expand operations for more efficient services that people will want.
