can i recycle school locks?

i have these bunch of locks in my room that i don't use anymore. they're the kinds that have the black knobs that you turn and require three different numbers to open them. i don't have a single clue what the combinations are. thanks

It's relatively easy to determine what the numbers are, just look up the procedure on the web. You usually only have to be within six numbers of each number to get it to open, then you move the numbers around till you center them. Whether or not they are recyclable depends on your recycling company. I know that the one I had in Texas would take them but the one here in Alberta won't. They'd be worth more at a garage sale anyways. The older ones were pure metal but the newer ones are all plastic inside.
