Armchair makes for a good episode of South Park.

Obviously Islam is not peaceful. The Muslims hate us. Even our own population of muslims, if not supportive, sit quietly by without protests against the terrorism.

Understanding all of the world's religions and also the points of view from aetheists or agnostics is the path to peace and, through peace, hope for a long-term harmonious existence.

Maintaining a separation of Church and State as is set forth in the First Amendment of the Constitution, and protecting everyone's right to worship or not worship as they choose (the Fourteenth Amendment) is how the U.S. survives as a glorious "Melting Pot" or all religions and none religions. When one religion, such as the hardcore far-right-wing extremist fundamentalism that I refer to as the psycho-pseudo-"christian"-CULT The Family (a.k.a., YWAM/Youth With A Misison/Heritage Foundation/Council on National Policy) in control of the GOP get too big for their britches and decide from Reagan days on to present days they want to stage a THEOCRATIC COUP in the U.S. from INSIDE the political system, then peace and hope have to go on life-support in order to survive the lunacies of the wayward GOP.

The Muslims were the first successful capitalists...and why would that be? Because their Holy Book, the Qu'ran, prohibits corporate greed---something our U.S. capitalists might benefit from practicing. Also in the Qu'ran are the words, "To harm an innocent is to harm the world." Like the Bible, there are messages of compassion in the sense of "Love thy neighbor as thyself"...If achieved, this would indeed lead to lasting peace. Why do you cite only Islam if God is the goal for all? I am metaphysical (Unity Village in Lee's Summit, MO) who believes that everything and everyone is a Hologram of Infinite Good (Omnipotent Being) and that God is the only reality (even though the word "God" does not seem aesthetically pleasing in the musical sense), so the fundamentalist religious-freaks in control of the GOP do NOT speak for me and I truly RESENT their efforts to cram their puny tight-shoes egomaniacal santimoniously hypocritical psycho-pseudo version of "christianity" down our collective throat in true rapist fashion. Freedom of Religion and Separation of Church and State (same as separating logic from emotion) are the way to peace.

People may say an easy answer of "yes", but to inspect this yes, you shall dig deep in this religion and read the books that Muslims wrote about it, not written by non-Muslims, you are then to compare and think.

    No.

I am born into a muslim family, and I have only come to know that Muslim is a faith that restricts freedom, supports war for selfish reasons, the Quran contradicts itself.
