The above answer couldn't have spelt it out better- about the God and Goddess being representations of the masculine and feminine forces of nature, as well as the many genderless/inbetween aspects as well.
While some of us believe that they are literal God and Goddess, I think the general belief is that they're what we humans came up with to understand the unseen wonder of nature's most fundamental force- the force of life, and you can't have life without the two sides joining in some form to create more. Even the plants have male/female parts.
They don't need our worship- because in our worldview, humans are not the most important feature of life, and whether we acknowledge them or not is of no significance to them. But we show our respect by worshiping them, it humbles us and makes us better people.
They are friendly, powerful, beautiful and scary all at once, and so many more incomprehensible things.

besides the undeniable fact that some Wiccans concentration on particular gods from particular international mythologies, Wiccans would worship many god(desse)s by skill of many distinctive names. maximum worship some variety of the super Goddess and Her consort, The Horned God. Such duo-theistic forces are in many cases conceived as embodying complementary polarities, no longer in opposition. In some traditions worship of the Goddess is emphasised, besides the undeniable fact that for the duration of others the Goddess and God are seen as complementary co-equals. The Goddess and God would be seen as linked with particular issues (such because of the fact the Goddess with the earth or moon, God with solar and flowers and fauna, etc), yet there are actually not any problematical and quickly regulations. some traditions worship the Goddess on my own on a similar time as others see Divinity as if truth be told previous human know-how, with "Goddess" and "God" only a handy shorthand.

The Goddess and God are seen as a manifestation of the feminine and masculine forces of nature. Each having unique characteristics that when combined result in the harmonious creation of life.
We see examples of this in everything around us as nothing can exist without the interaction of feminine and masculine energy. This creative energy is omnipresent. They are concepts that allow the human mind to comprehed the creative force of the world around us.
Giving name to the divine or feminine and masculine energies is in many ways irrevalent and certainly cannot justify the wars and bloodshed history has seen because of it. They are simply names humanity, a culture or specific belief system has created over time for association purposes.
It really matters little whether we associate with the divine as the "Father, Son and Holy Ghost" or "The One, Goddess and God." Ultimately, the concept is the same.
