The Dalai Lama is said to be an emanation of the absolute qualities of compassion love and kindness.

The deity called Chenrezig ( deity)is a practice given to evoke all the qualities of compassion.

It is fruitful to imagine that the deity is real and meditating thus the depth of understanding increases. The deities are examples of qualities to be meditated and considered upon.

An opinion obviously. I doubt religion would still be dominant in the world if it were a fact no deity exited

Currently it's a fact. Why? Because there's no proof that deities exist.

Now "I don't think any deities exist" or "I think deities exist" are opinion.

Hope this clears some things up. Cheers!

  • Sure it's an opinion. Maybe there ARE dieties but until anyone proves their diety IS a fact it's the most sensible default position to hold. It's not equally valid to believe a diety DOES exist. If it was it would be as sensible to believe in pixies as not to believe.

The Dali lama is considered a deity by some people so on that fact alone to say deities do not exist is an opinion.

It is an opinion. If I say "No deities exist", I expect people to realise that I am just stating my opinion.

    False dichotomy.

Example: 3,000 years ago - when no one knew that the Earth was spheroid in shape - was the claim "the Earth is spheroid in shape" a fact or an opinion?

If that was not a fact 3,000 years ago, what shape *was* the Earth 3,000 years ago?

It's an opinion ofc the same as such and such a deity exists is an opinion since it can't be proved either way.

Atheists are the same as Christians. Full of opinions - no knowledge. "No deities exist?" How do the atheists know that? Yes, of course it's an opinion ...
