What is the appeal of shrimp (aka why do people like it)?

Here's an interesting tidbit. After you have peeling a shrimp, sometimes, you see a long black vein on the outside of the shrimp, it's called a sand vein, and it's the shrimp's intestinal tract. I am very allergic to that sand vein, but will that stop me from eating shrimp? Heck no! I just am sure to clean it out thoroughly, and never have breaded shrimp where I can't see if the sand vein is in there.

I can't speak for all people, but personally I like shrimp because it has a slightly sweet and nutty taste that I've never tasted with other types of seafood. Shrimp can also be served many ways, breaded, shrimp cocktail, with rice and vegetables, in jumbalia, the list goes on and on.

I like the taste and texture of them. They all taste very much the same to me and I just add some salt and pepper and butter as I cook, and at the last minute a knob of butter

The sweet flavour you get when it's fresh. If its not fresh it's not going to be very enjoyable to eat.
