Subject verb agreement?
Keeping pets has/have more advantages than disadvantages. Kindly provide explanations with your answer. Most sources I've checked use the perfect verb HAS.

Subject is 'keeping', not 'pets'. It is singular. So, the right sentence would be " Keeping pets HAS..."
I will givw you more examples that are similar to yours :
'' Being sick meanS ...''
'' Smoking sigarettes IS...''
'' Mocking kids IS...'' , etc.

keeping is a gerund, a noun formed by taking a verb and adding ing. Like dancing or swimming, it is normally considered a global (non-quantifiable) act, a singular item in grammatical terms.
