Wrong section, dude, but people would be breeding MORE if the pelts were more valuable, wouldn't they? Think of the cost of MINK vs. rabbit coats. Rabbit coats are CHEAP as they shed more. Mink coats are QUALITY fur, made by quality furriers. Who in the world would want a coat that sheds as much as a live animal does?
Not that it matters any, I've owned both mink and rabbit fur coats, and the rabbit coat was a gift to me when I was 13. I grew up, and if I wanted a fur coat, I bought quality.

No. Cat pelts will never have a value like that because it would cause too many house pet, cared for cats to also go missing from people who just want the money and don't care if the cat was ferrel or not.
It would make it unsafe to allow your ordinary house cat out for a run because someone might kill it just for the pelt.

well, its illegal to use cat or dog pelts in the US
but considering that the texture isnt the most pleasant once tanned... and the inconsistency in colorations and markings
nope, the pelts are worthless.
