The x intercept is when it first hits the x-axis, and that is always when y = 0, but not necessarily x = 0.
therefore to find x intercept, y = 0
0 = 1/2x + 1/4
-1/4 = 1/2x
-1/2 = x
therefore the x-intercept is (-1/2, 0)
The y intercept is when it first hits the y axis, which is always when x = 0, but not necessarily y = 0.
So
y = 1/2(0) + 1/4
y = 1/4
Therefore the y-intercept is (0,1/4)
hope it helps

Set y = 0 and solve for x to find the x-intercept.
0 = 1/2x + 1/4
x = -2
x-intercept is (-2, 0)
Set x = 0 and solve for y to find the y-intercept.
y = 1/2(0) + 1/4
y = 1/4
y-intercept is (0, 1/4)
