If lesbians don't want to date men, why do a lot of them gravitate towards women that look like men?

Coming from a lesbian that is attracted to butch lesbian, it's complicated to explain. I personally have no attraction toward men, but I like the feeling of a woman holding me close and making me feel safe. I think it's an attraction of having what a woman traditionally wants in a man, but with what they want in woman. That's just my take on it. I've been asked this question many many many times and never had a direct answer for it.
