Does it matter that tonight's moderator is a personal friend of the Obama's?

One piece of interesting information is that Barack Obama was a guest at the moderator's wedding. ABC News' Martha Raddatz will serve as moderator, and in 1991, Barack Obama was in attendance at her wedding to then-husband Julius Genachowski. Obama later appointed Genachowski, a Harvard law school buddy, to head the Federal Communications Commission.

As reported by the Daily Caller, ABC has tried to downplay the connect, but is it relevant?

Irrelevant information? Put it this way: If Raddatz were a judge, she'd likely have to recuse herself from cases pertaining to the Obamas.

We're not arguing that Raddatz will slant tonight's debate in the Obama campaign's favor -- any more than a member of Congress would automatically vote for an appropriation simply because it helps a campaign contributor. We are arguing that the public has a right to know the facts about Raddatz's relationship to the president.

Doesn't really seem fair to me ...

Most Americans have friends from college days -- are you jealous?

I believe she would have been vetted by the Presidential Debate Commission -- are you calling for Darrell Issa to investigate that bi-partisan panel and declare it treasonous?

Source(s): get a life -- watch the debate and move on -- Rush Limbaugh will whine like a little brat tomorrow regardless

Well, since the the wedding was way back in 1991, and almost the entire Law Review was invited (including the Republicans), and Raddatz and FCC Commissioner Genachowski were divorced in 1997, and each has long since remarried, and Obama was friends with Genachowski but not with Raddatz -- I'd say that Moderator Raddatz is not a particular friend of Obama and that Tucker Carlson at Daily Caller is desperately trying to be relevant.

Certainly her ability to maintain objectivity as moderator was questionable. And it was proven in the debate. She obviously favored Biden. The Washington Times had a good article on it (see link).

But objectivity doesn't matter to liberals. Whoever says: "I'm for the cuddly animals!" wins.

Objectivity and even reality itself are mere interruptions to the cuddly animal crowd.

For a liberal like Raddatz, the question is not: "Did I moderate properly so the debators could compete fairly?" Instead the question is: "What can I do to further the cause of liberalism?"

This is unfortunate because Obama and Biden are pushing the US into socialism. Helping them hurts our country; even though they say it's for the animals.

You're right that she might have a bias favoring Obama. But it's also possible because of a divorce, she may no longer see Obama as a bright light. However, if she does show any bias, you can be sure that there will be plenty of people who will call her out on it.

I really don't think anyone's capable of helping Biden, but we shall see.
