homework question on submarines?

i need to know why submarines are not made of wood. i know that it sounds silly but i need to know for science. we are learing about density. if you could please help i would appreciate it.

Well, submarines are not made of wood because the wood would just absorb the water. As it absorbs wood, the density would increase and it would cause it to sink.
