For curiosity's sake: When were the first straight tail plastic worms made?

Who were they made by, and how effective really... Were they, especially just the first runs.

I would make this a much larger rant... However I wanted to spare you the agony. The title says It... I guess " duct tapes mouth"

Thanks guys!

there was an older fellow on here some time back, some kind of worm fishing god or something like that. wormisher, wormizer, wormist... name was along those lines. anyway, he appeared to really be something of an expert in the field. l think he died or something.

he was always ranting about one "nick creme". "saint nick" he called him.

nick creme is credited with creating the first "real" soft plastic worm back in the early fifties. any of us older guys should remember creme worms. my intro to them was in the early sixties. l caught many bass in my early fishing days on a 4 or 4 1/2 inch black creme worm. l'm not sure if there was any other color at that time. of course there was. the scoundrel in a natural 'crawler finish. but no oxblood or watermelon with flakes.

l would rig my worms weightless on a size 2 or 4 baitholder hook, just threading the hook through the nose and fish it weightless or with a shot or two, casting and reeling steady (but slowly). not knowing where a bass would ever see a black worm, l just figured is must look like an eel so l fished it like l thought an eel might swim. yeah, l was pretty dumb in those unschooled days.

but the bass didn't care. l got bunches of them.

here's bassmaster's story on nick creme.

You recognize, humans don't realise this but bassplay is proper in regards to the self assurance component. If you have self assurance in a entice, you will seize fish on it.But within the worm division I just like the Zoom trick worm fished weightless, or a ribbon or curly tail fished Texas rigged.Nonetheless, i have extra self assurance in a Zoom lizard rigged Texas sort or a Zoom youngster brush hog rigged the identical approach. But in heavy vegetation, A senko variety worm rigged weightless is my current favourite bait.
