Dogs dislocated hip, help please.?
My mini Dachshund was stepped on by a big heavy horse, I feared the worse, she was xrayed at the vets and she is believed to have a dislocated hip and her back (hopefully) is fine. They're currently popping it back in place under anesthetic, hopefully she will be ok. :(
Has anyone had any experience of this?what will happen& What can I do to help her recovery? Thankyou.

If she was immediately brought in and treated, chances are strong for a full recovery without relapse. Confirm this with the vet post-op. You want to ask about the potential for stretching or weakening of the tendons and ligaments that typically hold the leg in place and damage to the actual hip seat. If the repair was done quickly, it's unlikely that much damage was suffered, unless everything in the area was torn or shredded.
Ask the vet what kind of physicial therapy you should do and if anything in particular should be avoided. Water therapy is usually the top choice for rehabbing injured hips, so ask about this. Ask about range of motion exercises.
I assume that she's already not permitted to jump on furniture or into cars because of her breed. If she is permitted these things, it's time to stop and buy or construct ramps for her. You don't want to put any more stress on her joints or her back than necessary.
GL and I hope that she recovers well. : )

Paws crossed here for your dog.
It's good to hear she's in good hands already, and on her way to recovery soon.
Most certainly, she will need to be confined while her hip heals.
The vets will give you a recovery plan - which will also include no more time underfoot with the horses!

I consider for you & your pet.Thank GOD you can afford a vet.Shock can make us and our pets act like" i can control it."I had a canine and my husband set her leg/hip with compastion&a difficult pull.He has some clinical talents from the army and when you consider that we are living some distance from city this the exceptional we might do ,He made a splint and kept her in.We utilized sizzling/cold percent for a day or two and gave her a babie ASPERIN not ACETOMETAPHEN every other day for a short whilst.By means of gods grace or something it healed pretty just right. As for yours if your vet is announcing it could mend w/o surgery.I would make certain it,s out of outrage & her lungs are k an then I,d in my opinion appear on the exrays.Ask dr.To exhibit you.He may just suppose that the dogs hip could mend on its own with you limiting its routine. And then when you consider that you might have the money that you could perpetually bring it back for reconstructive surgery.Your alternative,so sorry for ya

If the joint isn't damaged and the hip gets put back correctly, there should be no residual damage, although the joint may be susceptible to arthritic changes early. Your vet will have a recovery sheet for you, or should.
