    1/2x + 1/4y= -7

    -2/3x + 1/2y=11 ---> multiply by (-1/2)

    1/2x + 1/4y= -7

    2/6x - 1/4y= -11/2 ---> now you can eliminate y

    -------------------------

    5/6x = -25/2

    x = -25/2(6/5) = (-150/10)

    x = -15

    substitute this value of x into one of the original equations

    -2/3x + 1/2y = 11

    -2/3(-15) + 1/2y = 11

    30/3 + 1/2y = 11

    10 + 1/2y = 11

    1/2y = 1

    y = 1(2/1) = 2

    (-15, 2) <--- solution

    Presentation is incorrect and should be shown as :-

    (1/2)x + (1/4)y = - 7

    (-2/3)x + (1/2)y = 11

    4x + 2y = -56

    -4x + 3y = 66_______ADD

    5y = 10

    y = 2

    4x + 4 = - 56

    4x = - 60

    x = - 15

    x = - 15 , y = 2
