what types of firewood can be burned in wood stove or multi-fuel stove?
I have a cast iron wood burning stove, I store some firewood for it in the summer, but I am not sure if all of them can be burned in my stove. I stored some spruce to start the fire and some rock elm to keep fire going. I want to know what else can be burned in stove, any answer will be appreciated!

Just like Joey said that what wood can be burned in your stove depend on Joey where you are from. I know some wood can be burned in wood stove, hope you can find the best one suit for your wood stove and your location.
The wood can be used to start fire:
You can use softwoods, such as pine, fir, basswood, spruce, balsam, poplar and hemlock. All of them are nice kindling to start the fire in your stove.
The wood can be used to keep the fire going:
These hardwoods are dense so that they can burn slower and keep an even temperature in your stove, at the same time, keep your home warm for longer. Those hardwoods include, ash and oak , ironwood, maple, yellow birch, rock elm, hickory and sugar maple beech also can be used as additional hardwoods.
Hope the information can help you, at the same time, share you the article from http://www.astove.co.uk/blog/types-of-firewood-you... maybe it will offer you more useful information.

I burn old fences ect and logs and suffer no problems, my grandparents burned glossed window frames and pallets on an open fire for over 50 years, my grandad died in his late 80's and my gran is still alive. If any fumes from a fire escape into your room even when burning only logs then you need to stop using the fire and get it checked out. Burning cr@p wood will soot your chimney up quicker and make your glass go black but all this stuff about poisoning you is absolute none sense any kind of wood smoke will kill you that is why NONE should leak. Just read what others are putting, i have also burned railway sleepers which are creosoted and haven't been posioned and you don't need to worry about over firing if you get used to how your fire burns, don't put too much on at once and keep the vents shut

Depending on where you are from there will be different types of firewood available. If you have access to ponderosa pine, red fir, or tamarack then that is what i would recommend. pine will burn really hot and burn for a fairly long time but because contains a lot of pitch it sometimes produces too much heat. another thing about pine is that it contains a lot of creosote. creosote can build up really badly in your chimney over a period of time and if it isnt cleaned enough (only like once a year) then could catch fire and start a house fire. Red fir is just as good as pine but does't have creosote in it but it does have a lot of pitch, and isn't very easy to split. Tamarack is one of the best types of firewod that there is in my opinion because it burns hot, burns long, and doesnt have any pitch or creosote in it. it is also a very easy wood to split and if it is wet it dries out quickly. tamarack also doesnt leave a big mess in your woodpile like most other wood does.
anyways, because i dont know what type of wood is available to you i dont have much more of an imput. I do hope this helps!

All Hardwoods burn long and hot When properly seasoned for burning. this gives you maximum Heat, less Creosote in the flue.Below is a list of some hardwoods. Ash is usually the most popular, but all are equally well used.
White Ash
Black Cherry
Hard Maple
White Oak
Red Oak
Black Walnut

If you think about it the answer is in the Title,' Multi-fuel' So anything goes.
it is fair to say that some woods are better than others but I think you know this because of the different woods that you mention.
Generally its better to remove the great if only burning wood as it burns slower if the draft is supplied to the top of the fire as opposed to the seat of the fire as with a great insitu.
