base 3 means you have a value range of 0 1 2 as each digit

    start from the right..

in base 3 you have weighting for each digit of 1,3,9,27,81,243 onwards as you go up the number

so now you need to apply weighting to your numbers

    1 * 1 = 1

    0 * 3 = 0

    2 * 9 = 18

    2 * 27 = 54

    1 * 81 = 81

    2 * 243 = 486

add up the right column 1+0+18+54+81+486 = 640

    answer is 640

it is like binary conversion in that binary doubles 1,2,4,8,16 etc.. to convert to base 10, in base 3 it triples.. so base2 - double, base3 - triple , a worthwhile way to remember it.

    ok so 1/3 is 0.3333333....

    and 2/3 is 0.6666666....

that's just what it is, if you're dong a maths problem just put it into your calculator as 1/3 etc.
