How do I approach someone I want to talk to?

Alright, someone caught my eye and I might be catching feelings. However, I don't know what to do about it. I know that its traditional for guys to make the first move, but I dont want the opportunity to pass me by. He's in one of my classes, but doesn't sit near me. I've seen him around campus reading and stuff. He seems approachable, but I don't know what the heck I'd say to him lol. I assume that the first step would be to smile, but I'm really shy, lol.

Anyone have ideas on initiatives I can take? I only have 2 more months in this class. I know there will always be the option of facebook, but I dont think I wanna take that approach.

An advantage I see is the fact that we're in the same class, this gives me a topic to discuss. I just need a good opportunity.

Walk up and be like. "I've seen you in my (whatever class it is)" He'll say something then just maybe ask him what he thinks about the professor or something along those lines.

It's really easy. Once you get past the very start or introduction to him, he'll talk and then you'll reply.. that's kind of how a normal conversation goes...

Edit: About the opportunity to actually do this, that's the easiest part. You can do it anytime you see him. Even if he looks like he is busy or already talking to someone else, who cares? Go up and feel free to interupt it. Say he happens to already be talking to someone else, say to the person he is talking to, "I'd like to talk to (name of guy) for a minute, is that okay?" then there you go. You just interupted him, but did it in a nice polite way.
