My washing machine is not functioning properly?
Its a used heavy duty maytag washing machine. When its on spin cycle it violently shakes. After it fills up on 'rinse' cycle, it does not do any other function until you open and close the lid or move it manually to the next cycle. I do small loads and know how to use a washing machine as well. Any suggestions please? I really hope its not a expensive problem. Much appreciated.

First off, its off balance that will not spin properly and you need to adjust it underneath then the water should go out then if you need to move the dial then the cycle or timer is off.Since its old you may want to get a new one.

Maybe something jammed or something. Try checking in the machine and make sure there's nothing small or something somewhere in it
