Why can I do to beef up the rear suspension of a 2007 Chevy HHR LS?

I bought a portable rack for the back of my car to carry a scooter which weighes about 105 pounds. The rack also weighs about 100 pounds. Total weight around 200 ponds. It fits into my trailer hitch.

I want to have the suspension beefed up to carry it but I do not want the car to ride like a truck. In the past I would have just put air shocks on it but I was not able to find any on the internet for this car.

I like to put coil over shock on this car without buying racing shocks.

Does any one have the name of a company that makes these type of shocks that do not cost $1,000?

go to google and type in "chevy hhr rear suspension" there are many bolt ons for very reasonable prices. If your good with a welder go buy an extra set of rear springs from a junk yard, cutting off the top and bottom of the coil so that all you have is the 3-5 coils left in one piece. take the coil part you just cut out and wind it into your factory coils. like taking 2 pen springs and meshing one into the other. then run a weld around the springs little by little as to not get them too hot because that can hurt them. anyway that can strenghen your springs but makes for a verrrrry rough ride. it works well on cavaliers i do know for sure. my friends and i do it for heavy stereo stuff and were broke :)
