Do you guys think this will work?

http://www.flickr.com/photos/68644874@N05/80954434...

So heres the story incase you opened the pic first and are thinking o_O

I just was so bored... So sick of not being able to fish, I had to do SOMTHING to do with fishing.

So I went to a store, got a quarter and sticked it in one of those little slot machines with toys in them. Out came it toy it was one of those little goopi slap and stick on the wall toys. So... I went home took out a 4/0 gamakatsu Round bend offset worm hook and rigged it texas style.

I sippose it could work becuase it might imitate an eel or small snake. Its very stretchy so I don't think it will break easy. I also notced that since the tail is so thin and soft it will literally "Dance" In the water. I think a light 1/16 or 1/8 oz texas rig, or even a split shot rig could do fine! Assuming that the fish gets all it in their mouth not just bite the tail, and I can get a good hookset..

Do you think it could work? Could I actually catch somthing on a cheapo 25 cent toy?? Be honest about it I don't mind! Thanks guys!

Update:

S-B-a-C-B) Nah I allready tried gummi worms. I texas rigged one on a size 2 EWG worm hook. And made a split shot rig. It actually caught something but it was quite ... small. Anywho, never know until you try eh? Well, I appriciate the honest opinion and I'll take into consideration your comments. Thanks again!

Update 2:

Chimp) Really? Wow that's alot more enthusiasm about this than I thought anyone would answer with! Thanks I appriciate that. I'll try it out next I go then. Never know, maybe theres a really dumb fish that's interested in it. Later!

Update 3:

Andrew) Good idea.. gummi snakes instead of just worms. I'll try that out next time. Thanks for the vote of confidence..

Update 4:

Nathan) Yes that's very true. I would have to up the hook size. Maybe an owner 11/0 will work better? But it might tip off the balance of it so I'll experiment hook and weight size like chimp says. Eventually I can get it right! Thanks for the honest opinion.

Update 5:

Readheat) Yeah I think it might work, but you know 50/50. Thanks for the answer... And erm, if you don't mind my asking... where exactly would that be red?

Update 6:

Bottom line) Awesome! just a bare pencil? Well I guess that's where they originally got the stick bait huh? Hah ha, anyway thanks for the vote of confidence.

Update 7:

Paul Z) Cool! I never would have thought of an egg beater! But I guess you never know till you try then huh? Oh and thanks for the extra into of the rigs! I can buy one and examine it to make my own. Later!

Hahahha thats actually really cool! Nice creativity. Cowboy I disagree on that.

Bruce...even if the fish doesnt swallow it he will stick to the thing lol. I think that sticky stuff on it might even entice the fish a little more who knows? The only problem I see is that I cant see (haha) the clearness might just make them overlook it though probably not as the vibrations and stuff will bring the fish in. The only way to try it is to fish it. My season just came to a end last week for good. (Stop complaining) I had my best luck tossing a plastic snake through the small amounts of duck weed left. Theres tons and tons of snakes trying to get there last bites by me it seems. I actually just got another snake for my collection but let me get back to my point. You know those gummy snakes or sticky snakes at the store? The 50 cent ones? Try hooking those I need to do that next year.

Good luck! Now I just have to wait till december for my next trout outing.

Source(s): Good Q. Starred it congrats your one of the 5 or so questions I stared.

hahahaha...dude that's cool! I went through the same ordeal one time in my life and just made up crap from the vending machines at my local supermarket. You have no idea what works on a quarter with a little imagination. I'll give ya one example; the smaller clear "bubble containers" with a clear lid are perfect for using as floats in clear water. Add a bit of water and you get some distance. What you did here ( in the pic) could work if you made it look like right. It's all about trial and error, finding out what works for you. Do your thing and have fun with it.~good luck catchin'.

Ehh not really, I would have to see how it looks and moves underwater. If you wanna try something new try texas rigging a gummy worm lol.

I was also going to say that you will probably miss alot of fish but even if you do it means that it works, right?

Fish will bite about anything, at times. I once put a hook on a pencil, tied it to my line and fished it like a top water lure, and caught several fish on it. If the bass are hitting, they go crazy sometimes and will hit anything that moves.

Good luck on this 'gelly worm' ...

I don't see why not,we took an egg beater, and fashioned a lure out of it,and caught fish on it.It's amazing what fish will go after.BTW,for your info, the rigs, you wanted for earlier are available pre-tied at retailers like deeks sporting goods, the ones for doughbaits and power eggs,ok?
